در مراسم عزاداری ایلات بختیاری رسمی به نام «کُتَل» وجود دارد.در این رسم به تنِ اسبِ شخص فوت شده رخت سیاه می‌پوشانند و ابزار جنگی او، مثل تفنگ، را به اسب می‌آویزند. سپس یکی از مردان ایل، اسب را به دور مافه (مافه‌گه) می‌چرخاند. در همین حال زنان به اجرای گاگِرِو می‌پردازند. در گاگِرِو یکی از زنان، که معمولا مسن‌تر است، شروع به خواندن سُرو (سرود - شعر) عزاداری می‌کند و زنان دیگر با او همراهی می‌کنند. ساز چپی یک ساز کوچک و محلی است که در زمان اجرای گِرِو نواخته می‌شود و صدای حزن‌آلود آن با صدای شیون و ناله‌ی زنان در‌می‌آمیزد.مافه (مافه‌گه): بنایی به شکل مکعب مربع یا مکعب مستطیل که برای علامت‌گذاری محل دفن فرد ساخته می‌شود و معمولا قد آن از یک انسان بلندتر نیست.
