Iranian Insignia and ‘Nishans’ in antiquity

 

Step 1. 
Help Collect Information

We are collectively gathering imagery and information surrounding the Sassanid family ‘devices’ and symbols (Nishans) that appear on certain seals, coins, or reliefs. If you like to contribute and add to the board, click the Pinterest invite link below.

For this project we are specifically looking for Images that show:
A sign on an individual’s hat or clothing (More important)
A seal from the Sassanid period with an abstract sign - Not animals

Please take a look at the board and see what types of images have already been pinned

Step 2.
Help Identify Individuals and Insignia

Help Identify the listed signs. The list is sorted by priority signs, at the top being the most important to identify. The sections that need help are highlighted in shades of red. For claims - please link your sources. If you know how to read Parsig, please click the links on the Source section and comment your reading transliteration and translation in ‘Latin’ characters.
