Naznāz | نضناض
در متون عجایب‌نامه از ماری سیاه به نام »نضناض« نام برده شده است که در بیابان‌های جنوب زندگی می‌کند. چهره‌ای شبیه به انسان دارد؛ از دهانش دود سیاه می‌آید و موی بلندی دارد. گفته شده که خوردن دل او باعث می‌شود تا افراد زبان حیوانات را متوجه شوند.
In the texts of wonders (‘Aja’eb-nameh’ literature), there is mention of a black serpent called “Naznāz” that dwells in the southern deserts. It has a human-like face, long hair, and black smoke emerges from its mouth. It is believed that eating its heart grants a person the ability to understand the language of animals.
