در استان گیلان، در روزهای اول و آخر ماه قمری، سعی می‌کنند که کارهای بزرگ زندگی مانند کوچ کردن، عروسی و بذرافشانی را انجام ندهند و سفر نکنند. این روزها را «ماتیجی» یا «ماتیجه» (به معنای تیزی ماه یا هلال) گویند. مردم کارهای مهم زندگی را از هفتم تا بیست و پنجم انجام می‌دهند.طبق این باور، در روزهای نخست ماه بهتر است به خرید لباس نو و انجام کار خیر پرداخت و در روزهای آخر ماه, کار خیر برای مردگان یا شستن لباس توصیه می‌شود.
In Gilan Province (northern Iran), during the first and last days of the lunar month, people traditionally avoid undertaking major life events such as migration, weddings, or sowing crops and refrain from traveling. These days are known as "Mâtiji" or "Mâtijeh"—terms referring to the sharp moon or crescent.Important life decisions and activities are typically reserved for the period between the 7th and 25th of the lunar month.It is considered auspicious to buy new clothes or perform charitable acts in the early days of the month. Toward the end of the month, acts of charity on behalf of the deceased or washing clothes are recommended.
