تهمورث یا طهمورث سومین پادشاهی پیشدادی بود که پس از پدرش هوشنگ به پادشاهی رسید و سی سال بر هقت کشور فرمانروایی کرد.
او در زمان پادشاهی خود حیوانات بسیاری را دست آموز کرد و ریسندگی و بافندگگی را ابداع کرد.
طهمورث وزیری پاک دین به نام شهرسپ داشت که بر اثر همنشینی با وی فرهمند شد و چنان بر نفس خود چیره شد که توانست اهریمن را به شکل اسبی درآورد و بر آن سوار شود. این کار طهمورث باعث خشم دیوان شد. به همین دلیل دیوان به قلمروی طهمورث حمله کردند و طهمورث به مقابله با آنها پرداخت و یک سوم آنها را کشت و دو سوم آنها را در بند کرد. دیوهای اسیر شده در ازای جانشان به طهمرث نوشتن به سی زبان اعم از سغدی و چینی و غیره را آموختند.
Tahmoures was the third Pishdadian king, ascending the throne after his father Hushang. He ruled over the seven regions for thirty years.
During his reign, he domesticated many animals and pioneered spinning and weaving.
Tahmoures had a righteous minister named Shahresp, who, through his association with the king, became enlightened and mastered his own spirit so thoroughly that he was able to transform Ahriman into a horse and ride him. This enraged the demons, prompting them to invade Tahmoures' kingdom. In response, Tahmoures waged war against them, slaying one-third of their forces and imprisoning the remaining two-thirds. In exchange for their lives, the captive demons taught him writing in thirty languages, including Sogdian and Chinese.
