الکوس یک دلاور تورانی است که در میانه‌ی جنگ هفت گردان در زمان پادشاهی کیکاووس به کمک افراسیاب می‌آید ولی راه به جایی نمی‌برد. داستان از آنجایی آغاز شد که رستم تعدادی از پهلوانان همچون گیو و گزاره و برزین و غیره را جمع کرد و بزمی ساخت و گیو پیشنهاد کرد که برای شکار به شکارگاه افراسیاب روند. پس آنان رفتند و یک هفته در آنجا بودند. افراسیاب از آمدن رستم و همراهانش به آنجا آگاه شد و بزرگان را جمع کرده گفت: «حالا بهترین فرصت برای حمله به رستم است و اگر آنان را بکشیم کیکاووس دیگری پشتیبانی نخواهد داشت.» پس افراسیاب لشکر کشید و به آنجا رفت و از آنطرف هم رستم از آمدن افراسیاب آگاه شد. جنگی درگرفت و بسیاری خون ریخته شد. رستم و یارانش کم تعداد بودند ولی هر یک حریف هزار تورانی می‌شد و اینگونه شد که در کار توران شکست افتاد. افراسیاب به پیران دستور داد تا با رستم وارد جنگ شود ولی پیران جلودار تهمتن نبود پس افراسیاب دستور داد تا الکوس را خبر کنند. الکوس با لشکری بیش از هزار جنگاور آمد و زواره، برادر رستم، را با خود رستم اشتباه گرفت و با او جنگید و زواره را زمین زد اما وقتی از اسب پیاده شد تا سر از تن زواره جدا کند رستم از راه رسید و الکوس را کشت. در آخر در جنگ هفت گردان در کار سپاه توران شکست افتاد و افراسیاب از دست رستم می‌گریزد و باز هم رستم دستش از افراسیاب کوتاه می‌ماند.

Alkus was a Turanian hero who came to Afrasiab's aid during The Seven Battalions War, which happened in KayKāvus' era; but eventually, he couldn't do anything of use. The story began where Rostam gathered some of the champions, including Giv, Gozareh, Borzin and many others to make feast. Giv suggested them to go hunting in Afrasiab's hunting ground. So they left for it and stayed there for a week. Afrasiab found out that Rostam was there, so he gathered many of his people and said to them that this was their best chance to kill Rostam and his companions and weaken KayKāvus. So Afrasiab marched towards them with his army, and on the other hand, Rostam saw them coming. A battle began and much blood was shed. Although Rostam and other Champions were not many, but each of them could defeat a thousand of Turan's troops. Hence, the Turanian army was defeated. Afrasiab ordered Piran to fight Rostam, but he couldn't defeat The Mighty Champion. So Afrasiab asked for Alkus. Therefore, Alkus came with an army of thousands of champions. But he mistook Zavareh(Rostam's brother) for Rostam. He managed to hit Zavareh and make him fall off of his horse. When Alkus jumped off of his own to cut Zavareh's head off, he found out that he wasn't Rostam. In the meantime, Rostam arrived and killed Alkus. In the end, in The Seven Battalions War, Afrasiab remained defeated once again, and he managed to escape and ran away from Rostam, once again.
