اردشیر پسر گشتاسپ پادشاه ایران بود که در «داستان گشتاسپ با ارجاسپ» در ابتدای نبرد تیر ناوکی خورد و از اسب فروافتاد و جان داد.
پس از آنکه گشتاسپ دین زرتشت را پذیرفت و به توصیهی او از دادن باج به ارجاسپ ممانعت کرد، جنگی میان ایران و توران در گرفت. زمانی که دو لشکر به مقابل هم رسیدند صفآرایی کردند و گشتاسپ سوار بر شبرنگ بهزاد به آوردگاه آمد. نخست هر دو لشکر تیرباران گرفتند. سپس، اردشیر پسر گشتاسپ نیزه به دست پیش آمد و هماورد خواست. در همین هنگام تیر ناوکی به او زدند و او از اسب به زمین افتاد و جان سپرد.

Ardeshir, son of Goshtasp (the king of Iran), who met his fate in the tale of "Goshtasp and Arjaasp." At the onset of battle, he was struck by a fateful arrow and fell from his steed, meeting his end.
After Goshtasp embraced the faith of Zoroaster and, at his counsel, refused to pay tribute to Arjaasp, a war ignited between Iran and Turan. As the two armies faced each other, they arranged their ranks, and Goshtasp, mounted upon Behzaad's magnificent steed, rode into the fray. Both armies unleashed a volley of arrows, and then Ardeshir, wielding a spear, stepped forth to challenge his foe. At that moment, a treacherous arrow struck him down, and he fell from his horse, surrendering his life.
