گرگین پسر میلاد از سرداران ایرانی در زمان پادشاهی کیکاووس و کیخسرو بود.
گرگین در تمام داستانهای پادشاهی کیکاووس و کیخسرو حضور دارد. در جنگ مازندران از شمار پهلوانانی است که بههمراه کیکاووس در مازندران اسیر میشود و در داستان هفت گردان یکی از همراهان رستم است اما آنچه گرگین به آن معروف است در داستان بیژن و منیژه اتفاق میافتد.
در زمان پادشاهی کیخسرو زمانی که ایرانیان آگاه میشوند که گرازها به اِرمان یورش برده اند، کیخسرو از پهلوانان خود یاری میطلبد. در این میان بیژن داوطلب نبرد با گرازها میشود و کیخسرو گرگین را به عنوان راهنما با بیژن همراه میسازد.
زمانی که بیژن و گرگین به ارمان میرسند، گرگین از جنگیدن سر باز میزند و بیژن یکتنه با گرازها نبرد میکند. گرگین به بیژن رشک میورزد و تصمیم میگیرد که بیژن را بفریبد. پس، برای بیژن از نخچیرگاهی میگوید که در آن نزدیکی است. در این مسیر آنها به اردوگاه منیژه، دختر افراسیاب، میرسند و بیژن از گرگین جدا میشود و در نزدیکی پردهسرا زیر سروی مینشیند. منیژه با دیدن بیژن او را به نزد خود میخواند و او را بیهوش کرده به کاخ افراسیاب میبرد. پس از چند روز افراسیاب از حضور بیژن آگاه میشود و او را در چاهی میبندد.
از آنطرف، گرگین پس از آنکه یک هفته اثری از بیژن نمییابد، به جست و جوی بیژن میپردازد و فقط اسب او را پیدا میکند و به ایران بازمیگردد.
کیخسرو در کار گرگین پژوهش میکند و با شنیدن دروغهایش او را در بند میکند. گرگین از درمیخواهد که رستم برایش پا در میانی کند. رستم قول میدهد که اگر بیژن صحیح و سالم بازگردد به او کمک کند.
دست آخر، رستم به همراه چندین پهلوان از جمله گرگین در لباس مبدل به توران راه مییابند و بیژن را آزاد میکنند. سپس گرگین از بیژن پوزش میخواهد و ابراز پشیمانی میکند.
گرگین در داستان یازده رخ با اندریمان به نبرد رخ به رخ میپردازد و او را شکست میدهد.
نام گرگین در جنگ بزرگ کیخسرو نیز به چشم میخورد اما پس از آن دیگر اسمی از او نمیآید.

Gorgin, son of Milad, was one of the Iranian commanders during the reign of Kay Kāvus and Kay Khosrow.
Gorgin appears in all the tales of Kay Kāvus and Kay Khosrow's reign. He is one of the heroes who gets captured along with Kay Kāvus in Mazandaran during the war, and he is a companion of Rostam in the story of the Seven Trials. However, Gorgin is most famous for his role in the story of Bizhan and Manizheh.
During Kay Khosrow's reign, when the Iranians learn that wild boars have attacked the region of Erman, Kay Khosrow seeks the help of his heroes. Among them, Bizhan volunteers to fight the boars, and Kay Khosrow assigns Gorgin to accompany Bizhan as a guide.
When Bizhan and Gorgin reach Erman, Gorgin refuses to fight, leaving Bizhan to battle the boars alone. Gorgin becomes envious of Bizhan and decides to deceive him. He tells Bizhan of a nearby hunting ground. On their way there, they come across the camp of Manizheh, the daughter of Afrasiab. Bizhan separates from Gorgin and sits under a cypress tree near Manizheh’s pavilion. Manizheh, upon seeing Bizhan, invites him to her quarters, makes him unconscious, and takes him to Afrasiab’s palace. After a few days, Afrasiab learns of Bizhan's presence and imprisons him in a well.
Meanwhile, Gorgin, after not hearing from Bizhan for a week, starts searching for him and finds only his horse. He returns to Iran and informs Kay Khosrow. Suspecting foul play, Kay Khosrow investigates Gorgin and, upon hearing his lies, imprisons him. Gorgin then seeks Rostam's intercession. Rostam promises to help Gorgin if Bizhan is returned safely.
Eventually, Rostam and several heroes, including Gorgin, disguised in different garbs, infiltrate Turan and free Bizhan. Following Bizhan's rescue, Gorgin apologizes to him and expresses remorse for his actions.
In the story of the Eleven Champions, Gorgin confronts Andariman in a one-on-one battle and defeats him.
Gorgin's name also appears in the great war of Kay Khosrow, but after that, he is no longer mentioned.
