میرین مردی رومی بادانش و ثروتمند بود که به خواستگاری دختر قیصر روم رفت و با کمک گشتاسپ داماد قیصر شد.
پس از آنکه گشتاسپ و کتایون به هم رسیدند، میرین به نزد قیصر روم رفت و دختر دیگر قیصر را خواستگاری کرد. قیصر برای آنکه دیگر اتفاقی همچون وصلت گشتاسپ (فرخزاد) با کتایون رخ ندهد برای میرین شرطی گذاشت. قیصر شرط کرد که اگر میرین بتواند گرگی که در فاسقون قرار دارد را بکشد دخترش را به او میدهد.
میرین که در طالعبینی مهارت داشت در آسمان نظر کرد و دانست که مردی به روم پای خواهد گذاشت که سه کار بزرگ میکند که یکی از آنها گرفتن دختر قیصر است. میرین فهمید که باید به سراغ گشتاسپ برود پس به نزد هیشوی رفت تا با کمک او گشتاسپ را راضی کند که به جای میرین به جنگ گرگ برود.
گشتاسپ که پذیرفت میرین اسب و شمشیری که از سلم به او رسیدهبود را به گشتاسپ داد و سه نفری تا نزدیک بیشهی فاسقون رفتند و گشتاسپ در آخر از آنها جدا شد و گرگ را به دو نیم کرد و دندانهایش را کند و با خود به نزد میرین برد.
سپس میرین به نزد قیصر رفت و با دخترش ازدواج کرد

In the annals of history, there was a man named Mirin, a Roman of great wisdom and wealth, who dared to seek the hand of the daughter of the mighty Caesar of Rome. With the assistance of the valiant Goshtasp, he became the son-in-law of the emperor.
After Goshtasp and Katayoun united in matrimony, Mirin approached the Caesar once more to court another of his daughters. The Caesar, wary of a repeat of Goshtasp’s fateful union, set forth an arduous challenge: if Mirin could slay the fearsome wolf that prowled the treacherous lands of Faseqon, he would grant him his daughter’s hand in marriage.
A master of astrology, Mirin peered into the heavens and prophesied that a man would set foot in Rome who would accomplish three great deeds, one of which was to claim the Caesar’s daughter for himself. Understanding the gravity of the task, Mirin sought the counsel of Hishoui, enlisting his aid to persuade Goshtasp to battle the wolf in his stead.
Goshtasp, noble and steadfast, agreed to the plan. Mirin bestowed upon him a noble steed and a blade, gifts inherited from Salm. Together, the trio journeyed to the outskirts of the Faseqon forest, where they eventually parted ways. Goshtasp ventured forth, vanquishing the fearsome wolf, tearing it asunder, and returning with its fangs as trophies of his triumph.
With courage and honor restored, Mirin approached the Caesar once more, this time to unite in marriage with his daughter, sealing a legacy of glory and valor.
