کاکوی سرداری از نژاد ضحاک بود که در داستان کین ایرج به کمک سلم و تور آمد.
در میانهی جنگ بین منوچهر با سلم و تور برای گرفتن انتقام خون ایرج، قارن، یکی از پهلوانان سپاه ایران و فرزند کاوهی آهنگر، از عقبنشینی سلم آگاه شد پس تصمیم گرفت تا دژ آلانان که احتمال میداد پناهگاه سلم باشد را تسخیر کند. پس به دژ رفت و با چارهسازی آنجا را گرفت. سپس پیش منوچهر شاه آمد و آنچه رفته بود گفت. منوچهر به او آفرین و گفت و افزود: «نبیرهی ضحاک، کاکوی، تو این گیر و دار پشت سلم دراومده، باید به جنگش بریم و دخلش رو بیاریم.» قارن گفت: «کسی که به جنگ شما بیاد به خودش ضربه زده... الان یه چارهای سوار میکنم که از این به بعد نه کاکوی نه کسی مثل کاکوی، هوای حمله به لشکر ما به سرش نزنه.» آوای شیپور و نای برآمد و خروش سواران طنینانداز شد. کاکوی بیرون آمد و فریاد کشید و با شاه درافتاد. کاکوی به کمربند شاه نیزهای زد و زرهش را درید. سپس منوچهر تیغ به گردن کاکوی زد و جوشنش چاکچاک شد. تا میانهی روز ایندو با هم برآویختند و زمین از خون سرخ شد. ناگهان منوچهر کمربند کاکوی رو گرفت و از روی اسب بلندش کرد و به زمینش کوبید سپس با شمشیر کارش را ساخت و اینگونه بود که نبیرهی ضحاک توسط منوچهر هلاک شد.

Kaakuy was a commander from the lineage of Zahhak who came to the aid of Salm and Tur in the story of the vengeance for Iraj.
In the heat of the battle, when Manouchehr was fighting Salm and Tur to avenge Iraj's blood, Qaren, an Iranian champion and Kaveh's son, found out about Salm's retreat. So he decided to capture Alanan Fort, which he taught might be Salm's hideout place. So he found his way into the fort and captured it. He then left for King Manouchehr and told him about what he did. Manouchehr praised him and then told him: Zah'haak's descendant, Kaakuy, with Salm he stands We should move our army, he should die by our hands Qaren answered him: Any who stands against you, himself he has harmed A lesson we will give them, non should dare to be armed So they blew in horns, and horses galloped across the fields. Kaakuy left his tent yelling and grappled with the king. Kaakuy tore king's armor when he tore his belt with a spear. Then king Manouchehr attacked Kaakuy's neck with his sword and tore his armor apart. They fought until midday and the field was red with their blood. Suddenly, Manouchehr grabbed Kaakuy's belt and threw him off of his horse, and finished him with his sword. Thus, Zah'haak's great grandchild died by Manouchehr's hand.
